6 O'Clock Shadowboredom
6 pm is basically the worst time of the day. The sun is either setting or, on the first day of "snow" in Chicago, it's already pitch-black out. 6pm is ESPECIALLY hard when you're trying to write a teaching philosophy. Yes, a philosophy about teaching when you have never taught. You write a philosophy about teaching hypothetical students in a hypothetical school in hypothetical situations wherein your students are hypothetically more engaged, curious and interesting than the Northface-wearing, Ugg-boots-stomping, gum-smacking, straightened-haired-sorority-girls-fake-smiling, cocked-baseball-hat-sweatpants-sagging-atheletes you ACTUALLY come in contact with on campus.

HA! i think that *is* my teaching philosophy: pretend like that hypothetical is true so that you can show up every week.
